To
cater for the traveller through "our place", Marlborough has a wide range of accommodation
options to suit different needs and price ranges. Water-side, bush and rural retreats
nestle in secluded settings, while hotels and motels add colour and character to the region.
If you want to luxuriate
at a lodge or resort beside the peaceful Sounds, or sleep on a stretcher in a tent before swimming
with dolphins or fur seals, the choice is yours. Whether you are looking for a budget
backpackers, a family motel, a luxury hotel, a homely bed and breakfast or a spacious
holiday park, you'll find what you're looking for in Marlborough.
Marlborough's numerous vineyards
are also host to many of the region's farmstays and homestays. From family hosted
accommodation through self-contained cottages hidden in the vines, to discreet luxury bed
and breakfasts, there are many opportunities to share in Marlborough's lifestyle.
A backpackers' paradise, Marlborough has some of the liveliest hostels
to be found in the country. Holiday parks and camping grounds also offer travellers budget
accommodation options close to the town centres or by the Sounds.
Most hotels and
motels, and many of the resorts and lodges have 110 volt AC outlets for electric shavers,
but other electrical appliances in New Zealand use 240 volt outlets so overseas visitors
may need to use adapters.
It is sensible to book your accommodation ahead, especially for during
Marlborough's peak season or the school holiday periods. New Zealand's seasons are summer,
December to February; autumn, March to May; winter, June to August; and Spring, September
to November. There are four school holidays breaks during the year in December/January,
March/April, July, and September/October. |
